ADHD Parenting Support and Skills Group (CAMHS) – The Incredible Years
A 12 week programme of two hour sessions. With individual phone calls/ face to face contact throughout the course to
support individual progress.
The overall aims of this programme are as follows:
To provide a fun and safe environment where parents can share their parenting experiences and learn from each
other
To enable parents to create positive relationships within their family
Parents will learn skills to support their child’s development of social, emotional and problem solving skills.
To create positive change and decrease negative behaviours.
Finding individualised solutions that work for your family.
To create a friendly support network which will continue after our course
For parents of children 6-12 years who are open to CAMHS. This is the treatment course recommended by NICE guidelines
as a first line intervention following diagnosis - so is great for all parents whose children have either a diagnosis of ADHD or
are awaiting assessment.
Please Note: This is an evidenced based programme so parents are expected to commit to the full 12 weeks in order for it
to be effective, as each session is aimed to address specific issues in a timely way. Assessments are conducted prior to the
programme to start to identify parents individual goals and what they want to achieve through the programme. This
ensures that certain aspects of the course can be tailored to meet the specific needs of each parent.
