Description of activity
The Parity for Disability Mission: Excellence in the provision of services and support for people with profound and multiple disabilities and their families.
Parity for Disability is an established, award-winning charity. We run three day services in Farnborough, Camberley and Mytchett where trained, caring staff support people aged 18+ (called students). Our staff and facilities are equipped to meet complex care and communication needs with dignity and respect. Students are encouraged to take control, building and maintaining skills through tailored learning and social activities both indoors and out. We fundraise to ensure access to up-to-date, appropriate equipment and technology, frequent outings using Parity’s fleet of adapted minibuses, and input from qualified health professionals around communication, postural care and emotional wellbeing.
We also operate an Activity Scheme for young people with multiple disabilities aged 12+ in the Easter and Summer holidays, where they have the opportunity to meet up with friends and do all the indoor and outdoor activities their peers might take for granted.
Parity for Disability’s Music Therapy Service operates both on-site and in homes, schools and other settings. The service accepts referrals for adults and children. It offers taster sessions, pilot projects, fixed-term projects and ongoing contracts to other organisations.
