Description of activity

People to Places is a charity in the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead providing specialist accessible transport for people with disabilities and mobility issues.

Community Transport Services

People to Places operates a range of community transport services including:

dial-a-ride for individuals members,
transport for local groups,
home-to-school transport,
Transport Assistance Payments Scheme (TAPS).

Shopmobility Services

Our shopmobility service operates in both Maidenhead and Windsor town centres offering a range of mobility equipment to meet all needs including manual and powered wheelchairs and scooters. You can also purchase keys as part of the National Key scheme (sometimes known as Radar keys) for £5 to access disabled toilets in the local area.

Travel Assistance Payments Scheme (TAPS)

On behalf of the Royal Borough, People to Places administer pre-paid credits to provide travel for eligible residents in their accessible vehicles. People to Places operate the borough's Dial-a-Ride service,

Eligible residents receive pre-paid credits for eighteen one-way local journeys (defined as up to 2 miles).

Please refer to the People to Places website for further information on the scheme and to apply. The answers you provide on this assessment form will help People to Places to address any requirements you may have when using transport provided under the Travel Assistance Payments Scheme (TAPs).

Description of Eligibility or Referral Criteria and Pathways (if applicable)

Eligibility to access the service is the inability to access public transport by reason of age, sickness, disability, poverty, or because of a lack of availability of adequate and safe public passenger services. Through individuals, social workers, relatives, friends, community groups. We don’t have a waiting list, however, we do need to go through an assessment process, which normal takes a day or so to complete and get signed by the individual or parent/guardian.
