Description of activity

Children's centres bring together a range of services, advice and guidance to support families and children under five years old.

The children's centres in the borough offer a timetable of:

play sessions including sessions for children with additional needs
parenting support
access to health visitor services
speech and language appointments with a therapist at Poppies Children's Centre
back to work and training advice and other more specialist support when needed.
Children's centres are a mainstream service that everyone can access. There are also some sessions which specifically support young children with additional needs. At Poppies these include:

Twinkle, Twinkle Group -Parent and Child Activity for children aged 0-5 with Special Needs.
Chattertots speech therapy for children with Down Syndrome
There are also specific sessions to support families who are serving in the Army.

Free parking is available in the public car park in front of the Children's Centre along with designated disabled parking spaces.
Wheelchair and pushchair accessible, however, due to space requirement we ask that pushchairs are left in the covered buggy area.
Baby changing facilities and disabled toilets available.

Open access for most sessions although some need to be pre booked.
