Safeguarding

The Single Point of Access (SPA) and Early Help Hub (EHH) is the single point of contact for all safeguarding and wellbeing concerns regarding children and young people in The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM). It does this by acting as a “front door” to manage all safeguarding referrals including the undertaking of Child Protection investigations where required, and acting as a “front door” to Early Help Hub.

The below referral form should be filled out to access support in the following areas:

  • safeguarding
  • accessing Early Help services
  • referrals to children's social care services

If you have a concern about a child or young person in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, please complete the Single Point of Access referral form

If your referral requires a timely response, or you need guidance prior to completing the referral form, you should phone the Single Point of Access on 01628 683150. If you need to speak to someone urgently outside of office hours, please call the Emergency Duty Team on 01344 351999.

If you consider a child is in immediate danger, phone the police emergency number on 999

The multi-agency threshold guidance supports professionals and agencies who are worried about a child or young person to identify and assess the most appropriate action to take to ensure that families receive the right support at the right time, in the most effective way.

The SPA and Early Help Hub are designed to meet the two key principles of effective safeguarding as defined by Working Together 2018:

  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility: for services to be effective each professional and organisation should play their full part; and
  • A child-centred approach: for services to be effective they should be based on a clear understanding of the needs and views of children.
